IMPORTING
SHEEP AND GOATS TO HAWAII

Federal Scrapie Eradication
program: Sheep and goats that are moved
interstate or for exhibition need to have official
identification.
Sheep must meet the
following requirements:
Originate from a
state officially declared free of scabies for
the 12-month period preceding date of
shipment.
Be dipped or
sprayed with a USDA Animal and Plant Health
Inspection Service approved pesticide.
Include a
Statement-Free of external parasites.
Goats must meet the
following requirements:
Originate from a
herd not under quarantine for brucellosis,
tuberculosis, or other contagious diseases.
Test negative
for tuberculosis and brucellosis within 30
days prior to shipment. (Brucellosis is not
required for castrated males)
Dipped or
sprayed with a USDA Animal and Plant Health
Inspection Service approved pesticide under
veterinary supervision.
Include a
Statement-Free of external parasites.
