The function of the Market Development Branch of the Hawaii Department of Agriculture is to assist in the economic development of the agriculture and food manufacturing sectors of Hawaii's economy. The branch assists Hawaii producers by sponsoring or participating in numerous projects and activities. The following are examples: 1) the "Island Fresh" campaign; 2) Hawaii State Farm fair exhibits; 3) County fairs on each of the Neighbor Islands; 4) product promotion programs with commodity groups such as tropical flowers, coffee, pineapple, papaya, nursery plants and manufactured foods; 5) printed materials such as an export directories and brochures; 6) trade shows on the Mainland, Japan, Canada and Europe; and 7) market research.
